Beacon HANAC Program
What We Do
HANAC Corona Beacon is an all-year-round program. It is a school-based community center offering young people and their family’s diverse opportunities to grow and participate actively in the life and spirit of their community. The Beacon program serves as a light of hope for the community in which it's located. Like a lighthouse guides ships through the night, the Beacon gives guidance to our youth and their families through a comprehensive array of youth and community development services. The program offers youth and adults a concoction of social, recreational, and educational services at no cost.
SUMMER RISING: A collaboration between DOE & DYCD, Summer Rising is a 7-week Summer program that offers the students of PS19Q the opportunity for continued learning and fun during the summer months.
BEACON AFTER-SCHOOL: Students at PS19 enjoy an array of activities including homework help, dance, basketball, and tutoring.
ADULT LITERACY: Beacon offers English classes for adults (Basic to Advanced). Classes run Monday-Thursday and Saturday.
DANCE: We offer dance classes for students age 7 and up, and offer classes on four levels.
BASKETBALL: We run periods of open gym during the week as well as an adult basketball program.
